The Federal Government, through the National Agricultural Lands Development Authority (NALDA), has handed over travel documents to 200 young farmers to enable them travel to Israel and Morocco for capacity building on crop production and animal husbandry.
The Executive Secretary of NALDA, Prince Paul Ikonne, while speaking at the official presentation of travel documents in Abuja, disclosed that the program is part of the new initiative called ‘Aggressive Food Production” launched under the National Young Farmers Scheme, NYFS, which is in collaboration with the Ministry of Education.
NALDA, through NYFS, is responsible for raising a generation of young people that are empowered, motivated to operate and involved with the process of national transformation through agriculture.

The authority, through its various programs, is working to encourage youths and to connect them to the opportunities in the agricultural value chain and unleash the potential of Nigeria through youth engagement in modern agriculture.
Ikonne noted that the youths were drawn from 36 states of the federation as a part of NYFS launched by President Muhammadu Buhari, with the aim of making agriculture more attractive to the youths as the training will expose and equip them on modern agriculture and agribusiness.

“We are running a program we call ‘Aggressive Food Production’, and this we are doing in collaboration with the Ministry of Education as the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, is providing us with land from the universities for this.
“So we are sending them to countries that we know have string expertise on what we are doing; Israel and Morocco, and this is to enhance their knowledge and to expose them to modern day practice in crop production and animal husbandry, so 200 young farmers would be sent for capacity building in Israel and Morocco.
