The Agro -Rangers Corps, a special security unit under the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Oyo State Command, has lauded the state governor, Seyi Makinde, following the donation of operational vehicles to the squad.

The corps’s commander, Superintendent Emmanuel Olusola Aluko, praised Gov. Makinde for the vehicles’ timely release, which he said would further strengthen their operation. Aluko went on to describe the governor as someone who makes agriculture one of his top priorities and works effectively towards its development.

The Agro Rangers unit was devised by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Interior to forestall attacks on farms and boost farmers’ confidence in working on their farms without any fear of assault as well as to enhance the federal government’s food security plan.

The Agro- Rangers program was launched in mid-2016 following the recommendations of a committee headed by Noah Auta, the director of , joint services at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Aluko thanked the Oyo State commandant of the NSCDC, Iskilu Akinsanya, for his support, noting that the development would assist in food security and that farmers’ fear of being attacked by herdsmen would be a thing of the past.

Azeez Maboreje, who is popularly known as an ambassador for farmers, hailed the state government for supporting them and called on other governors in the South- West region to follow the path of Gov. Makinde, adding that doing so will encourage farmers to do more, thereby resulting in food sufficiency in both the region and Nigeria as a whole.

Maboreje expressed gratitude to the Agro -Rangers Corps for demonstrating its support for farmers, emphasizing that the squad’s effort had been a saving grace for farmers in the face of attacks from herdsmen, who have been striking  farms within Oyo State and the entire South West.
