    CBN to Partner with FCDA, States for Dairy Production

    The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in an attempt to end milk importation, has sought the partnership of the Federal Capital Development Administration (FCDA) and also various State Governments.

     

    The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), in an attempt to end milk importation, has sought the partnership of the Federal Capital Development Administration (FCDA) and also various State Governments.

    Mr Godwin Emefiele, the Governor of CBN, said that the apex bank was seeking partnership in the areas of allocation of land and provision of credits to the Small and Medium Enterprise Farmers’ Cooperative Societies.

    He made this known during his visit to the Minister of the FCT, Muhammad Bello, and said that CBN will support the projects and programmes by the State Governments to improve Agricultural Development.

    FG to Ban Milk Importation into the Country

    During this visit, Mr Emefiele requested the FCT Minister to accelerate the process of allocating land to the Friesland Campina WAMCO Nigeria Plc, Nestle Nigeria Plc and L&Z, to establish local dairy processing plants in Abuja.

    He further said that allocation of land to the three major Dairy Companies in the country will for sure drive Industrialization and also stimulate local milk production for the development of the local Dairy Sector in the country.

    He cited Bobi Grazing Reserve in Niger State as one of the successful partnerships the Bank is having with the state and also stated that over 31,000 hectares of land had been allocated by the State Government to the Dairy Companies in the State.

    CBN Partners with NINAS to Improve Exportation 

    In response to this, the Minister of the FCT, Muhammad Bello, eulogized the CBN Governor for his passion in revamping the Nigerian economy.

    The Minister said that the FCDA had already envisaged the establishment of four grazing reserves in Bwari, Karshi, Gwagwalada and Rubochi in the FCT Masterplan.

    He pledged to fast track the provision of land to the companies to enable them to establish their processing factories within a short period of time.
