According to the Chief Executive Officer, Dizengoff Nigeria, Antti Ritvonen, there is a need to equip Nigerian farmers with up-to-date training in terms of modern farm technology, in order to ensure increased food productivity.
Antii Ritvonen, Chief Executive Officer, Dizengoff West Africa (Nigeria) Limited, an agricultural equipment and agricultural machinery company, has identified poor financing as the major challenge bedeviling agricultural mechanisation in the country.
These technologies includes drip irrigation, cost effective tractors, greenhouse technologies, selective weed control chemicals and battery powered sprayer.
Dizengoff Focuses on Greenhouse Technology Investors to Aid Agriculture
According to Mr. Ritvonen, agriculture yields huge returns if mechanization and proper tech-wise practices can be embraced and applied.
The Integrated Project Country Manager , greenhouse unit of Dizengoff, Mr. Oscar Walumbe, affirmed that greenhouse technology helps farmers use less resources to get greater produce and higher return on investment.
Adding his voice to the discourse, the Permanent Secretary in the state ministry of agriculture, Leader Simeon Opowoye, said that manual agriculture was capital intensive, time consuming, costly and irrelevant in the age of modern technology.
Also speaking at the event, the Special Adviser to the Kwara State Governor on Agriculture & Rural Water Support Services, Anu Ibiwoye said that the core of the state’s agenda is agriculture, He added that the state is on the verge of moving from subsistence farming to commercial farming especially cashew, cassava, shea butter production.
Mr. Dizengoff said he was ready to partner with the state governments, agencies, corporate and individual farmers on modern technologies, equipment and input.
