The Commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs Adepeju Adebajo, disclosed that there will be cooperation between Ogun State government and the Federal Ministry of Water Resources to establish two irrigation dams in order to improve farming activities in the state.
This disclosure was made during a courtesy visit by the management of Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority to her office.
She affirmed that, for the irrigation projects, preliminary work was already underway situated on the Farm Settlements at Ikenne and Ijebu-Idode. The Ikenne irrigation dam will be 2,500 hectares of farm land, while that of Ijebu Idode will cover 1,000 hectares. Asides this, the dam will also assist the state government intervention programme in the area.

Otunba Olufemi Odumosu, Managing Director, Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority had commended the timely readiness of the state government in accommodating Federal Government intervention projects.
He further maintained that the project would improve on the infrastructures at the settlements and the internal road network which leads to the settlements will be ameliorated.
