    FG Optimising Aquaculture For Economic Wealth and Job Creation – Lokpobiri

    The Nigerian delegation, led by Honourable Minister Of State for Agriculture and Rural Development, Sen. Heineken Lokpkobiri attended a meeting of leaders in Fisheries and Seafood sectors in Iceland.

    The theme of the meeting was “Promoting the Blue Bio-economy, making the best use of ocean opportunities”.

    The meeting was organized in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

    The meeting centred on how to enhance the blue Bio-economy. He mentioned that the Federal government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari had been optimizing aquaculture in the development of the economy through wealth creation and the provision of jobs.

    The concept of a “blue economy” came out of the 2012 Rio + 20 conference, this has played an important role in achieving the post-2015 Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).
