    FG Partners Oyo Govt on Artificial Insemination of Animals

    The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development through the department of Animal Husbandry Services in partnership with Oyo State Government have commenced artificial insemination (AI) for cattle, sheep and goats in the state.

    This was made known by the state’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Adeniyi Olabode Adebisi at the conference room of the ministry in Ibadan during the presentation of motorcycle and artificial insemination kit, donated to Oyo State by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture.

    Artificial insemination (AI) is an important technology for improving animal production, it is a process by which sperms are collected from the male, processed, and stored, which is then introduced artificially into the female reproductive tract for the rationale of conception.

    The Commissioner appreciated the Federal Government for counting Oyo State worthy to be among the six states to benefit from the National Livestock Breed Improvement Program and for the artificial insemination training conducted for the officer of the ministry.

    Adebisi assured of more support and enabling environment, adding that Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration in Oyo State is Agriculture-friendly and would welcome support and partnerships that would improve agriculture in the state.

    Firm Collaborates with Nasarawa on Donkeys and Cattle Breeding

    The Director, Federal Department of Animal Husbandary Services, Mrs. Winnie Lai-Solarin, represented by Mr. Ojedele Tolulope Samuel, encouraged the state government to support the trainee and follow up adequately in order to make good use of the resources handed over to Oyo State.

    Solarin boasted that the process yielded positive results as 12 out of 16 inseminated animals in a farm in Oyo State came out successful and that liters of dairy supplies had increased significantly. She then advised any interested farmer to contact the Ministry of Agriculture, Secretariat, Ibadan.
