    Kwara Partners With NCAM, Signs MoU on Agro-processing

    Kwara State Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) on the processing of agricultural produce across different communities in the state.

    Kwara State Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanization (NCAM) on the processing of agricultural produce across different communities in the state.

    At the signing of the MoU, the governor announced on behalf of the government that it would build some cottage industries in select locations to boost productivity, drive community growth and create wealth.

    NCAM is tasked with mechanizing Nigerian agriculture by developing simple need-based and low-cost technologies that use locally sourced materials to reduce drudgery and increase farmers’ efficiency, productivity and income.

    According to the MoU, Kwara State will sponsor the establishment of the industries, while NCAM will help to train people and provide necessary inputs such as engineering and technical supports that will reinforce those industries.

    The governor said in his remarks that the state is privileged to have NCAM and other research institutes located in the state, adding that his administration will take full advantage of those institutes and that the partnership is another milestone for his administration in ensuring food security and creating wealth for the people.

    “What we want to do under the MoU will be covered in the 2021 budget. It is a beginning of many things to come.”

    Muideen Kasali, executive director of NCAM, expressed that the organization was ready to support the administration’s dream of empowering the youth and women.

    “We are very happy with this MoU that we have just signed. We thank you for the initiative. This will help the youths to come out from the streets and be empowered. It will create employment and allow the youths to be engaged,” declared the NCAM boss.
