The North East Commodity Association (NECAS) has distributed 100 tractors to farmers across 17 local government areas of Yobe State to boost their productivity.
NECAS commended the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN)’s anchor borrower programme whose partnership with the Yobe State Government has made the tractor distribution project possible.
The Governor of Yobe State, Mr. Mai Mala Buni, who flagged off the event said the state government has made necessary arrangements to support farmers and stakeholders to boost food production in the state.
NECAS, CBN Launches 600 Modern Tractors
While he praised NECAS for the provision of the tractors which according to him came at the right time, Governor Buni said no nation can be secured, unless it can feed herself.
The Yobe state chairman of NECAS, Nuhu Baba Hassan said that the tractors would be given out on loan only to registered members and farming groups to cultivate their farms. While the NECAS National Chairman, Sadiq Umar Jaware in his goodwill message said the efforts of the association has aided employment opportunity for youths in the region who services the tractor.
NECAS earlier this year distributed 600 new modern tractors to facilitate national food security in the North-East region of the country.
