    Stakeholders in the agricultural sector have urged the government to establish price regulatory reforms for farm produce.

    The call was made during the 10th anniversary of the National Agricultural Show programme themed Agriculture for Sustainable Economic Diversification and Growth, by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture and Chairman Board of Trustees ( BOT) Nigerian Agricultural Foundation of Nigeria (NAFN), Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

    He said, “What Nigerian farmers are expecting is that their commodities should have a price, they should know when they produce, what price they are going to get, either by tonne by volume or whatever to be set by the government which are lacking at this point in time.”

    He expressed happiness that there is change of attitude towards the practice of agriculture and he hopes government addresses the concerns of stakeholders that have been raised.

    He noted that the change of attitude has made those with necessary capital and expertise to venture into agriculture such that when they are fully established, Nigeria would have transited to become a country of modern/mechanized agricultural production.

    Also present at the event, National President, All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN), Architect Kabiru Ibrahim added that attention should be given to agriculture and its relation to economic viability.
