International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has entered into a USD 129.17 million partnership with the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprises Programme in the Niger Delta (LIFE-ND) will create more than 38,000 jobs in the Agric sector.
The NDDC acting Managing Director, Akwagaga Lelegima Enyia, while addressing stakeholders at a meeting of the LIFE-ND project in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State Capital, said the objective of the scheme is to change the rural economy and to boost the sustainability of the Niger Delta residents.

The acting MD, who was represented by the NDDC Director (Special Duties), Nosa Agbonbiasede, said the project is in line with the Federal Government’s agricultural policy and its structure for youth employment and job creation.
Also at the meeting, the IFAD country representative, Nadine Gbossa, stated that LIFE-ND initiative will create larger opportunities for youths and women, and the alliance between IFAD and NDDC will reduce poverty via the creation of job opportunities for the unemployed in the Niger Delta region.

In his comments, the National Project Coordinator for LIFE-ND programme, Abiodun Sanni, said aside engaging over 38,000 youths and women, the scheme will also set up 900 business owners.
Sanni stated that the administration will be assisted by different committees, which include the National Steering Committee, Technical Support Committee, and State Project Steering Committee.
