Coconut processors in all Local Councils in Lagos State have been given processing machines by the state government.
Mr. Okanlawon Sanni, Special Adviser to the Governor on Food Security, saddled with the responsibility of distributing this equipment to beneficiaries disclosed the commitment of the Lagos State Government to improve food security by including the coconut processors in her agricultural development programme.
With more than 30,000 coconut seedlings, he said, coconut growers in the state have also been equally empowered while over 600 youths and women have been trained on the production of coconut oil and art craft.
“The goal of distributing the equipment is to expand the scope of coconut processing operations in the state and further collaborate with the private sector in promoting the coconut value chain,” Mr. Okanlawon concluded.
