The Bankers Committee at a meeting held in Lagos has presented an award of “Sustainable Transaction of the Year in Agriculture” to Heritage Bank Plc.
The MD/CEO of Heritage Bank, Mr Ifie Sekibo, said, “We are highly honoured to be awarded by the regulator as one of the most supportive financial institutions to the Agriculture sector, which is a key sector of the economy and this validates the hard work and success story of the bank to create, preserve and transfer wealth across generations,”.
The management of the bank believes that providing support for certain critical areas of the agricultural sector are important if the Buhari-led administration’s goal of diversifying the economy through agriculture is to be achieved.

The bank is supporting Oyo State with finances through its Oyo State Agricultural Initiative programme (OYSAI), aimed at reviving agriculture in the state, boost agro-allied businesses, and bring about massive employment for youths and women.
He also disclosed that the award presented to the bank was in recognition of its partnership with Biase Plantations Limited (BPL), a subsidiary of Wilmar International and Triton Aqua Africa Ltd (TAAL), by providing it with N2 billion loan facility under the Commercial Agricultural Credit Scheme.
Mr. Ifie Sekibo vowed that the bank would continue to make farming profitable to stakeholders and attractive to the youth, as Heritage Bank had taken the front seat in financing critical agricultural projects in several states in the country, especially in Oyo, Kaduna and Zamfara.
