    Agriculture is Successful Because Nigerians Can’t Afford Foreign Foods, Buhari Tells Governors

    President Muhammadu Buhari, in his welcome address to state governors at the presidential villa, Abuja, expressed his pleasure with the successes recorded by each state in the agricultural sector.

    He said the success recorded in the agricultural sector was because Nigerians could no longer afford foreign foods.

    He said: “I am very pleased with the states; you are all doing your best and you are lucky your best is proving to be good enough for agriculture and solid minerals. You are succeeding in agriculture because I think, people cannot afford foreign food”.

    Ebonyi state Governor, Dave Umahi, appreciated the president for intervening in the agricultural sector through the Paris Club refund they have received to boost agricultural production in their state.

    Cleric Urges Nigerians to Embrace Agriculture

    He further said: “Without the assistance, it would have been difficult for us to cope. You have treated all governors equally, irrespective of party affiliation”.

    Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong also reacted to the development, in relation to the President’s return to the country, He said: “With him back, everything is taking shape again. This is not to say the Acting President was not doing well; we must commend him”.

    He further said: “In the absence of the President, there was no vacuum, because the Acting President filled the gap and did his best up to this moment and showed absolute loyalty, both to the nation and Mr. President”.
