The Agric Investors and Resources Development Forum (AIRDEF) established to enlighten, expose and empower Nigerians on commercial agriculture has decided to assist farmers in the production of bitter kola, kenaf, sheabutter and tomato.
Oluwaseun Olla, President of AIRDEF, during a seminar held by the organization in Ibadan themed: Soil and grass: Building potentials, said the purpose of the seminar was to disseminate research results. According to her, AIRDEF was created to educate people about the latest innovative technology in agricultural production.
She said the organization equally seeks to sensitize the youth on opportunities in agribusiness, giving them relevant training to succeed in the profession.

In another related development, the Federal Government of Nigeria has been called upon by women farmers to restore the scrapped Growth Enhancement Scheme (GES) Scheme. GES which was initiated by the then Minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina for Nigeria farmers, was a farm support initiative aimed at subsidizing the costs of major agricultural inputs, such as fertilizer and seedlings for farmers.
During a two-day annual National Farmer’s Forum organized by ActionAid Nigeria, the Small-scale Women Farmers Organization (SWOFON) said they lacked access to improved seeds and other farm inputs, which the GES was meant to provide.
The SWOFON Board Chairperson Mrs. Constance Okeke applauded ActionAid Nigeria for their support to the organization since inception.
