    Borno Supports Flood Victims with Tractors, Cash and Other Items

    Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has coordinated the distribution of about N172 million in cash, food items to 30,436 residents, including flood victims whose homes were destroyed in Damboa Local Government Area of the state.

    The governor, while supervising the distribution exercise, directed that each of the 436 flood victims be given N50,000 cash, a bag of maize grill, clothing materials, and a mat, among others, and that the sum of N5,000 each and fabrics should be given to 30,000 residents, the majority of whom are widows, vulnerable women, and men.

    According to the state governor, tractors distributed would be allocated to farmers through a loan model to enable them to resume their farming activities that were disrupted as a result of insecurity.

    A total of 436 people were identified as victims who lost their shelters and food items to floods caused by a recent heavy downpour which caused the displacement of some families.

    He empathized with the affected people but urged residents to desist from building houses along waterways to avoid the future occurrence of destroying people’s lives and property.

    Zulum used the opportunity to take a tour of many communities in Hausari, Old Damboa market, and Kachallaburari. On his arrival in Damboa LGA, he inspected an integrated mega Islamic school under construction to combine Islamic and western education.

    The visit is meant to accelerate completion of the school in order to enable young people that attend traditional Islamic schools to qualify for tertiary education that will enable them to acquire the equivalent of diploma certificates.

    The Chairman of Damboa Local Government, Prof. Adamu Alloma, appreciated the governor for the support and intervention in bringing succour to the people.
