    FG Commences Revitalization of RBDA, Inaugurates Water Scheme

    The Federal Ministry of Water Resources has disclosed that it has commenced the revitalization of River Basin Development Authorities (RBDA) for effective and efficient farming methods that will increase agricultural production and ensure food security.

    The Minister of Water Resources, Sulieman Adamu, gave this assurance in Imo State during the inauguration of a 500,000-liter per day capacity water scheme to serve residents of Ehime Mbano Local Council; Agbala integrated Songhai farms among other projects scattered in some parts of the state.

    Adamu pointed out that the current administration, under the watch of President Muhammadu Buhari, has made a significant impact in revitalizing and rehabilitating the River Basin Development Authorities across the country.

    He expressed his satisfaction over the efforts of the Managing Director of the Anambra/Imo River Basin Development Authority (AIRBDA), Gerald O. Osuagwu, while describing projects sited at the headquarters of the agency in Agbala, Owerri North local council, as sustainable legacies that would improve human capital development.

    “The revitalization of the Agbala integrated Songhai farms will serve as a training center geared towards educating farmers on modern, effective, and efficient farming methods that will increase agricultural production and ensure food security.” Adamu said

    Osuagwu, the Managing Director of the AIRBDA, added on his own that the project was basically built with the intention of providing jobs, creating wealth, boosting agriculture, and impacting positively on the lives of the people, as well as generating revenue for the authority.

    He disclosed that there were other numerous projects in the various parts of the state that would unfold soon, while highlighting other projects inaugurated to include the Basin’s Water Factory and the Palm Oil Processing Mill, among others.
