France Minister of Europe and Foreign Affairs have signed an agreement to renew collaboration efforts on climate change, sustainable agriculture, eradication of hunger, rural development and efficient use of natural resources.
According to Graziano da Silva, “ending hunger is a basic requirement for achieving global sustainable development goals, and can only be done if we address the challenges climate change poses for agriculture and food security”.
Speaking further he said “Protecting biodiversity, reducing food loss and waste, conserving and restoring soil health while creating decent employment opportunities in developing countries are part of what we need to achieve and will require coherent and integrated partners and above all strong partners,”.

FAO’s new framework agreement with France emphasizes the common goal of supporting a shift to sustainable agriculture and food systems as central to facing challenges of hunger, climate change and decent employment for all.
Along with numerous heads of state, the UN Secretary-General, and the President of the World Bank, Graziano da Silva attended French President Emmanuel Macron’s one climate summit, an event to encourage international communities to take adequate steps to reduce global warming.
