SAO Agro, a leading investor in the Ondo Special Agro Processing Zone, recently welcomed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to its oil palm estate in Ore, Ondo State. This visit underscored the state government’s recognition of SAO Agro’s significant contributions to food security, mechanized farming, and sustainable agriculture.
Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting large-scale agribusinesses like SAO Agro and JB Farms. These companies are the largest employers of labor after the State Government, providing jobs for approximately 3,000 and 5,000 people, respectively. The governor also planted palm trees at SAO Agro Farms, demonstrating the government’s support for SAO Agro’s oil palm program and infrastructural development.
Addressing Illegal Farming and Promoting Sustainability
To address the issue of illegal farming on SAO Agro’s land, Governor Aiyedatiwa directed the illegal farmers to vacate the concessioned areas immediately. The state government will provide alternative farmland, while SAO Agro will offer over 100,000 hybrid cocoa, oil palm, and plantain suckers. This initiative promotes sustainable agriculture and supports local farming communities.

SAO Agro’s Expanding Operations and Initiatives
SAO Agro has expanded its oil palm operations and invested in cutting-edge technologies, including drone technology, hi-tech irrigation, and sustainable land development practices. The company has also launched various Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives, such as solar-powering over 145 health centers, 150 SMEs, and 420 households in Ondo State.
