The Institute of Agricultural Research and Training (IAR&T), Ibadan, in collaboration with Oyo State Government, is currently training 100 graduates in various agricultural fields.
The training was tagged “Third National FADAMA Development Projcet (FADAMA III AF) Fadama-Graduate Unemployed Youth and Women Support Programme (GUYS)”.
Commissioner for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Mr. Oyewole Oyewumi, speaking at the opening ceremony of the two-week training, informed that the initiative was developed to empower unemployed youths through training in agriculture.
He stated that 300 unemployed youths are currently being trained through the initiative while another 200 unemployed youths are receiving training in Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso and two other locations.

On the selection process, Oyewumi said participants were selected from thousands of interested youths in the state who had indicated interest to venture into agriculture but needed basic training, information, moral and financial assistance. He urged the participants to make good use of the training received.
IAR&T is a multiple-research institute situated at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-ife, Osun State. Its research interests include land and water resources, kenaf and jute improvement, maize improvement, grain legumes improvement, trypanotolerant livestock improvement and other agricultural schemes.
