In its quest to improve animal health and livestock production in the country, the federal government of Nigeria has officially handed over a newly constructed animal primary health care center to Ogun State, which is intended to enhance the animal husbandry subsector of the economy.
The health center, facilitated by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and located at Ajegunle Farm Settlement in Odeda Local Government Area, was presented to Ogun State Gov. Dapo Abiodun to ensure adequate animal health care delivery.
The governor pointed out that with the state being the largest producer of eggs and broilers, boasting major clusters of producers in poultry and associated products, the federal government’s donation would further enable and support investment and entrepreneurship activities in Ogun’s livestock and related value chains.

“As we approach the 2021 growing season with a renewed focus on agricultural interventions, Ogun State government will continue to facilitate partnerships that will support our agricultural agenda in food crops, livestock, and related activities,” Gov. Abiodun asserted.
He disclosed that the state government’s decision to provide land, infrastructure and security assistance for the project in one of the farm settlements known for livestock value chain activities, especially poultry and piggery, was meant to renew public interest in the benefits of state-sponsored agricultural support activities.
Ogun to Partner World Bank, Others on Food Security
“I wish to appreciate the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, ably led by the Honourable Minister of Agriculture, Alhaji Sabo Nanono, for the selection of Ogun State as a beneficiary state of the Primary Animal Health Centre.
“Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture will make the best use of this facility to supplement similar facilities at Ita-Eko, Sagamu, Ota, and nine other locations across the state to support agricultural value chain activities and livestock entrepreneurship,” the governor pledged.
