Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has set his sights on revitalizing the livestock economy to boost local communities’ economic fortunes. A key part of this plan involves cultivating 30 hectares of land within the Game Reserve in Plateau, which has the potential to lead Nigeria in livestock development for both local consumption and the international market.
To ensure the success of this initiative, Governor Mutfwang has emphasized the importance of security measures and collaboration with local communities to reclaim the land for economic purposes.

In addition to these measures, the state government is also investing in infrastructure to support the cultivation of Napier grass, a key feedstock for livestock. Boreholes are being dug to provide a reliable source of water for irrigation, demonstrating the government’s commitment to providing the necessary support for the livestock sector to grow and develop. With these initiatives in place, Plateau State is poised to become a leader in Nigeria’s livestock economy, driving economic growth and prosperity for local communities.
