    “We are Targeting Youths for Increased Food Production” – Anambra Commissioner for Agriculture

    The Commissioner for Agriculture Mechanization, Processing and Export in Anambra State, Chief Afam Mbanefo, has advised youths to take advantage of the training on agronomy practices offered by his ministry. 

    He made this statement while briefing representatives of Governor Willie Obiano’s media team on the achievements attained in the area of agriculture in the state.

    He said: “We are targeting youths for increased food production in 2017; that is why these programmes are organised periodically to sensitize and encourage youth farming”

    He asserted that with good agronomic practice, vegetable farming can make a farmer profit between N300,000 to N350,000 in six weeks.

    Government Tasked to use Agriculture to Tackle Youth Unemployment

    The Community Farm Development Programme launched by Governor Obiano is aimed at boosting the living standard of farmers in the hinterland,

    It further helps in bringing about grassroots development, attracting and giving youths a good source of income thereby reducing societal vices.

    Community Farm Development Programme (CFDP) was established by the state government in order to provide farmers with inputs, tractor services and link them with buyers.

    The programme is aimed at linking the farmers to off-takers for the guaranteed market of their agricultural produce.
