    Shettima Launches NEDC Office, Road, and Distribution of Agricultural Inputs

    Speaking during the flagging-off ceremony in Maiduguri, Shettima said that the establishment of the NEDC was a timely response, demonstrating the federal government’s commitment to addressing the region’s developmental challenges.

    The VP called on the people of the North East to take charge of the opportunities presented by the NEDC, leveraging the investments to address their unique developmental challenges and pave the way for a more prosperous future, while urging Nigerians to embrace the federal government’s vision for a brighter future.

    The Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, while speaking, lamented that the 13-year Boko Haram insurgency has set the region back by 50 years. He appealed to Shettima to harness his power to bring tangible progress to the region, foster a brighter future for its people, and ensure the commission operates in accordance with its statutory provisions.

    Also speaking was Umar Kadafur, the deputy governor of Borno State, who commended the NEDC for its positive impact on the six states in the region. He pointed out that Borno, being the epicenter of the Boko Haram insurgency, has benefited significantly from the commission’s energy programs.

    His remarks underscored the commission’s effectiveness in delivering meaningful solutions to the region’s developmental challenges, bringing hope and progress to areas most in need, adding that though Borno has long struggled with electricity shortages, the NEDC has made a substantial difference in addressing this challenge.

    The Board Chairman of the NEDC, Maj.-Gen. Paul Tarfa (rtd), on his own reaffirms the federal government’s commitment to inclusive development and the NEDC’s dedication to delivering tangible results in the region.
