The African Union Development Agency’s (AUDA) intervention under the New Partnership for African Development (AUDA NEPAD), Program on Agriculture is set to empower a total of 5,400 Small Scale Farmers in Bauchi State.
The Special Adviser on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to Bauchi state Governor and the State Coordinator of AUDA-NEPAD and Focal Person, Dr. Esther Ahmed Kadala, disclosed this during appointment of new Local Government Desk Officers in her office.
NEPAD was transformed to AUDA-NEPAD in June 2018 during the31st Ordinary Session of the Assembly of African Union Heads of State and Government at Nouakchott, Mauritania, as part of the global reforms geared at improving the Union’s impact and operational efficiency.

AUDA-NEPAD is mandated to undertake full range of resource mobilization and serve as the continent’s technical interface with all Africa’s development stakeholders and development partners.
Esther narrated the overview of the program that the AUDA- NEPAD program is an Agricultural and Agro-Allied intervention initiative designed to the capacity of smallholder farmers to accelerate land productivity and control desertification.
The SA added that other arears of the program are tailored around agricultural equipment and infrastructure, post-harvest storage and processing, capacity building of beneficiaries and other stakeholders.

She urged the newly appointed LG Desk Officers to join hand with the state in carrying out the program to improve economic status of the less privileged and vulnerable target groups in their localities.
Speaking on behalf of the 20 LG Desk Officers was Mallam Aminu Ningi, who thanked the State coordinator for having the confidence in them and also promised the coordinator that they will do everything humanly possible to see to the success of the program, adding that she wouldn’t be disappointed for appointing them.
