    Governor Inuwa Inaugurates New Fertilizer Plant in Gombe

    The Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, unveiled a new fertilizer blending plant aimed at ensuring the availability and affordability of the commodity for farmers in order to increase agricultural production and guarantee food security as the 2024 farming season kicks off.

    The governor, while performing the official commissioning of Al-Yuma Fertilizer and Chemical Company in Kwadon, Yamaltu Deba Local Government Area, emphasized the pivotal role of such industries in job creation and the provision of essential farming inputs to enhance food production and sufficiency.

    Recognizing the private sector’s significance, Governor Inuwa affirmed the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, citing Gombe’s achievements in ease of doing business and socio-economic indices.

    “While job creation is primarily the responsibility of the private sector, the government’s role is to provide an enabling environment. We are therefore ready to support any entrepreneur who wants to establish a business in Gombe State.”

    He pointed to Gombe’s achievements of ranking top twice in ease of doing business and securing a triple-A ranking in socio-economic indices as a testament to his government’s commitment to creating a secure and friendly environment for businesses to thrive.

    Announcing a strategic shift from distributing food palliatives to providing fertilizer to incentivize farming and tackle economic challenges, Governor Inuwa disclosed plans to procure 200,000 tons of fertilizer from the new company for distribution to Gombe farmers.

    In his welcome address, the Chairman of Al-Yuma Fertilizer and Chemical Company, Alhaji Yusuf Ali Yusuf, represented by the Managing Director, Dr. Faruk Hamza, commended Governor Inuwa for fostering an environment conducive to business growth.

    The Emir of Yamaltu, Alhaji Abubakar Aliyu, also expressed gratitude to the governor for creating a peaceful atmosphere conducive to investment while promising the cooperation of host communities.
