Terra Agricultural Support Company, a Netherlands-based firm, disclosed that maize and soya bean farmers in Ekiti State will benefit from a support fund of N3.5 billion in the current planting season.
This was made known by Reye Haveman, the managing director of the company, at a meeting with state government representatives in Ado Ekiti, including lead representatives Folorunso Olabode, commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, and Olukayode Ilesanmi, the technical advisor to the governor on agriculture.
According to Haveman , the company decided to invest the huge sum of money in Ekiti State because of its availability of adequate storage facilities, land and willing farmers.

Haveman explained that the company is working with a list of farmers and data that was provided by the state government to execute the project, adding that those farmers will be supported in mechanization, training, input supplies, harvesting and product offtake among others things.
He stressed the need for all stakeholders to display transparency and honesty in order to protect the reputations of the government and the company had built over the years.

He went on to say the company would soon sign a formal memorandum of understanding between the company and the state government.
In his remarks, Olabode assured  investors that the state was desirable of having his team in this critical era of dwindling oil price.
While recently receiving a group of investors with Agrocola in his office in March, the commissioner signaled the readiness of the state government to allocate farmlands across its 16 local government areas to investors in the agricultural sector in order to allow for commercial agricultural practice in the state.
