The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has disbursed N1.9 million soft loan to 19 beneficiaries of its 2023 Sustainable Development and Empowerment (SADE) Schemes in Kano State, to encourage outh participation in agriculture and reduce the increasing rate of unemployment in the country.
The Director-General of NDE, Malam Abubakar Fikpo, at the event organized for the disbursement of the loan in Kano, disclosed that the empowerment under Rural Employment Promotion (REP) Department of the directorate was designed to combat unemployment in the country.
Fikpo, who was represented at the event by a Deputy Director of the directorate, Joshua Fagbemi, noted that the aim of the gathering was to sensitize beneficiary on the effective utilization of the loan to make them see the loan as required finances to set up their enterprises.

He admonished them to see the gesture as a rare opportunity, which should not be allowed to fail by putting in their best to succeed and repay the loan in due time so as to allow other unemployed youths to benefit from the scheme.
“Today, we are here to launch the disbursement of loans to 228 beneficiaries under the 2023 SADE these prospective participants are drawn from the pool of REP trained beneficiaries in the 12 states, under this scheme, N22.8 million will be shared to 228 persons in 12 states to enable them to set up and manage small scale agricultural enterprises,” Fikpo said.

During his remark, the director for REP, Emem Duke noted that the loan disbursement was introduced to help beneficiaries set up their own businesses, become self-reliant and motivate the youths to contribute to job creation and national economy growth.
According to him, the exercise would go a long way in promoting people-centered approach to poverty eradication and promote distribution of wealth through access to productive resources, including credit.
