The Director-General of the Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency (OYSADA), Dr Debo Akande, disclosed that the current administration in the state has rolled out proactive, business-friendly policies to ensure economic regeneration through diverse agribusiness initiatives.
Dr. Akande made this known during an interview session with farmersmanual correspondent at a three-day conference of Oyo Agribusiness Summit 2021 with the theme: ‘Grow Oyo/Invest in Agriculture,’ organized by OYSADA in conjunction with Agro4you Limited, held at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, IITA, Ibadan.
According to the DG, OYSADA was established in April 2020 with the mandate to turn Oyo State to a modern agribusiness hub through the adoption and application of public, private and development partnerships (PPDP) model
He listed programs under the agency to consist six major areas including: Oyo State Youth Entrepreneurship in Agribusiness Project (YEAP), Oyo State Agribusiness Policy and Governance Program, Oyo State Agribusiness Park Program, Oyo State Agribusiness Education Development Program, Oyo State Regional Agribusiness Development Program, Oyo State Sustainable Rural Cities Development Program.
He went further to explain that the agency comprises of four Zonal offices to support regional outreach in (Ibadan/Ibarapa, Saki, Ogbomoso and Oyo) and that the agency is composed of three program Implementation divisions which are the agribusiness Investment division, the agribusiness Donor project division and the agribusiness core project division.
When asked to speak about the summit, the DG pointed out that the program was organized to strengthen the core mandate of the agency by bringing global key actors in agribusiness together and provide prospective investors and stakeholders a platform to better understand the investment opportunities within the Oyo State Agribusiness.
