    Presidential Quarterly Business Forum for Private Sector Stakeholders

    Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, stated that the forum which is centered on Agriculture, Agribusiness, and the Agro-allied value chain is key to Nigeria’s journey to food security.

    Nigeria’s Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, stated that the forum which is centered on Agriculture, Agribusiness, and the Agro-allied value chain is key to Nigeria’s journey to food security.

    He asserted that owing to government’s commitment to agriculture, there has been enthusiastic response on the part of small scale farmers to leverage on agriculture as a tool of economic empowerment.

    Prof. Osinbajo said: “We are in a special moment because the Federal Government has shown commitment towards agriculture and entire value chain. We have seen enthusiasm of all the players, including the small farmers all across the country,”.

    Stakeholders Partner to increase Private Sector investment in the Agricultural Sector

    He further charged stakeholders in the agriculture sector to imbibe a culture of feedback in order to ensure that issues raised are being worked on by the appropriate body so as to increase and sustain the growth in the sector.

    Osinbajo noted that  private sector leadership is important to the current administration’s economic policy.

    The Managing Director of NIRSAL, Mr. Aliyu Abdulhameed, commended the government’s proactive measures in involving the private sector in her bid to develop the agricultural sector reiterating the fact that the private sector has proven over time to be a key driver of economic growth in the country.

    Aliyu added that even government-owned institutions are now being deliberately designed and set up to function as private sector driven enterprises, using NIRSAL as an example.
