    NECAS, CBN Launches 600 Modern Tractors

    The North East Commodity Association (NECAS) in conjunction with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Anchor Borrower’s Programme (ABP) has launched 600 new modern tractors to facilitate national food security and production in Adamawa State.

    Mr. Sadiq Daware, the National Chairman of NECAS while speaking at the inauguration in Yola, said NECAS is in alliance with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Bank of Agriculture (BOA), and other agricultural institutions to facilitate agricultural development and mechanization in the country.

    NECAS which was founded to certify farmers in the North East of Nigeria has within two years accredited roughly 500,000 farmers producing in the region.

    Mr. Daware appreciated the Federal Government’s role in assisting the association and stated the tractors will be shared across the six member states of the geopolitical region.

    The Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri, expressed full confidence on the step taken by NECAS towards supporting farmers to actualize food production and security.

    Fintiri, whose state was recipient of 150 of the tractors, promised his administration will give full support to agricultural production so as to attract business opportunities and increase food production in the state.

    He equally pleaded with the beneficiaries to make use of the tractors for the intended purpose.

    NECAS earlier this year distributed utility vehicles to all her zonal Supervisors to facilitate accessibility to association members.
