    Senator Donates Fertilizer to Farmers

    Resident farmers of the Abia Central Senatorial District have been gifted with 1,000 cans of fertilizer by their district representative, Senator Theodore Orji

    Resident farmers of the Abia Central Senatorial District have been gifted with 1,000 cans of fertilizer by their district representative, Senator Theodore Orji.

    The senator, who is also the Vice-Chairman, Senate Committee on Agriculture, has provided farmers in his constituency with additional motorized boreholes for the constituencies making up his district zone in a bid to improve the productivity of farmers.

    This was officially disclosed by the senator’s Media Assistant, Don Obinna while speaking with newsmen in Lagos.

    According to Obinna, this act is in tandem with the senator’s belief in the general well-being of his community – mitigating poverty, eradicating hunger and rate of infant mortality.

    He further stated that: “In agriculture, Abia State is 65 per cent farmers when one looks at Isiala-Ngwa North and South that produce enormous pineapple needs of the state. All the six local governments in the state are agrarian, capable of feeding the state and beyond.”

    It could be remembered that the senator sponsored the food security bill which has now become an act and its aim is to compel the government to provide quality food to citizens as part of its responsibilities.

    Obinna credited the senator with the renovation of the Umuaiah-Ikot Ekpene road. He further revealed that other roads were being constructed: Atta /Emeke/ Nkporo, Umuakanu road in Emenke Ibeku community, Umuahia North, Umuagu road with a bridge linking them all.

    He said that the amount of damage and overall loss caused by bad roads was one of the factors which propelled the senator to act fast in terms of road renovation.
